BESPOKE INDUCTION HEATING COILS
PHILOSOPHY
Coil design is critical in getting the best out of any power supply and CPS utilises advanced design techniques and materials to build coils with close fitting conductors and excellent electrical field profiles. These characteristics produce excellent power draw from the generators and consistent heat profile around the pipe. Getting the very best out of the power source means improved heat up times and temperature profiles on even large diameter and heavy wall pipe.
BETTER BY DESIGN
In order to extract maximum performance from the induction power pack, coils have to be electrical sound and efficient. CPS coils are designed using an innovative bottom end and contact design to ensure the field around the pipe is maintained with a consistent intensity. The individual coils are wrapped closely around the pipe and terminate in specially designed high conductivity copper contacts in the bottom end closure. Any variation in temperature along the length of the pipe can be accommodated by moving the contacts in the specially designed bottom end assembly and the individual wraps to intensify the electrical field as required. This can be done on site without any dismantling of the coil due to the movable contact design.
SINGLE PERSON OPERATION
As well as electrical efficiency, the coils have to be field friendly so as to allow the operators to work with the equipment as efficiently and safely as possible. The newly designed latching mechanism means that as the coil is lowered onto the pipe the latch engages and the coil is always ready to close using the integrated lever. When opening the latching mechanism incorporates a pushing phase so that the operator can quickly and easily push open the contacts and allow the coil to be lifted off the pipe. The new design allows single operator handling even with larger diameter coils thus eliminating the need for a second operator on the other side of the pipe.
